Campaigns

West Lancashire Conservatives are involved in a range of campaigns both local and national.  The campaigns below are the ones on which we are currently campaigning.

More powers for PCSOs

Local Conservatives are calling for all local Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to be given more powers.  Out of 22 powers available to the county’s PCSOs at the discretion of the Chief Constable, just one has been issued - the power to hand out fixed penalty notices for dog fouling.

PCSOs in Lancashire for example don't have the power to use reasonable force to prevent a detained person making off nor the powers available to tackle graffiti.  Given the need to ensure best value for taxpayers' money it's essential to maximise the powers of PCSOs to keep our communities as safe as possible.
