Una moved to Aughton 43 years ago and spent most of her working life at Edge Hill University. She has been a member of Aughton Parish Council since 1978 and is a former chairman. In addition, she is a Governor of St Michael's School in Aughton and is a Foundation Governor of Ormskirk School.
For six years she was the fund raising secretary of West Lancashire Victim Support Scheme. She is current Chairman of West Lancashire Area Committee of Parish & Town Councils.
Una was elected a District Councillor for the Aughton Town Green Ward in 1991, was re-elected to the larger Aughton & Downholland ward in 2002 and was elected Chairman of West Lancashire District Council for 2005-06. Since becoming a Councillor, Una has campaigned to ensure the interests of all the residents of Aughton and Downholland.
