Cllr Mrs Doreen Stephenson - Halsall

Doreen was born and educated in Ormskirk.  She lives in Shirdley Hill with her husband, John and three children all of whom attended Halsall C of E Primary School.  She served 8 years as a Constable in Lancashire Constabulary before joining the family horticultural business.  Doreen has followed tradition of her Grand Father and Father who were both Councillors and her brother who is also a Conservative Councillor on WLBC.

 

Doreen serves on a variety of committees within the council and local community groups including Halsall Parish Council.  She is also a foundation Governor of Ormskirk School.  During recent years she has been instrumental in the provision of new play equipment and recycle bins on the Memorial Playing Fields, the refurbishment of St. Aidens Hall and the reinstatement of the bus shelter in Shirdley Hill.  She has also initiated and been instumental in setting up the Canal side project to commemorate the building of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
