David has lived in Lancashire all of his life, he is married with three grown up sons. He has been a WLBC councillor since 1976 apart from a brief period in the 80s. He has served on all major committees and is currently Chairman of the Borough Council's Executive Overview and Scrutiny committee.  Ten years ago David was elected to Lancashire County Council where he represents Aughton, Downholland, Simmonswood, Bickerstaffe, Altcar and Halsall as County Councillor for West Lancashire South. 
David has recently been made Chairman of the Lancashire Fire Authority and a Director of the new Regional Control Centre for the combined North West Fire and Rescue Services of Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Merseyside and Greater Manchester . He is also a Governor of Ormskirk School.
