Small scale traffic and parking improvements are underway in Ormskirk and Westhead under Lancashire county council and following representations and work from County Councillor David Westley.
In Beech Meadow, a single yellow line has been signed off and should be implemented shortly with parking restrictions Monday-Friday 8am to 4pm to alleviate issues caused by overspill parking from Edge Hill University.
Parking restrictions have also been proposed in parts of Ruff Lane, Vicarage Lane, and St Helens Road but objections have been received from Edge Hill University. The objections are being considered, however it is likely that county officers will continue to recommend implementation of the new restrictions in a report being compiled and to go to the Cabinet Member for final decision.
On Tower Hill Estate parking restrictions are planned to be extended to further alleviate the problems of overspill parking from Ormskirk hospital, but there have been local objections which are being considered.
Finally in Westhead, there will be an extension of the 30 mph limit on the A577 and other safety measures e.g. addtional road markings which will meet some of the long-expressed concern from residents on Cross Hall Brow about speeding traffic.
