At a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, West Lancashire Borough council expressed its total opposition to plans submitted to the county council which would extend the area available for the tipping of hazardous waste at Whitemoss, near Skelmersdale.
As well as the additional noise and traffic movements and residents' concerns over health, any extension of the site would see the loss of valuable peat which is a non-renewable carbon source.
The Borough council's opposition will now be conveyed to the county council.
