Eric Pickles MP, the Conservative Party Chairman joined Adrian Owens, the party’s General election candidate on a visit to Midstream in Skelmersdale last Thursday.
Midstream were partners in the local Conservatives’ environmental improvement project – the Heart of Tanhouse last year. Adrian Owens said that Eric Pickles had particularly wanted to see for himself the work of this award-winning social enterprise.
Following the visit Mr Pickles said “I thought Midstream was fantastic. It wasn’t merely an example of what can be achieved, it was an exemplar organisation. They’ve clearly got several different income streams and I was impressed that they’ve self funded their latest capital investment, a new craft workshop.”
Adrian Owens said “I’m delighted that Eric wished to visit our project partner. Midstream are an example of the growing strength of social enterprises in West Lancashire. I used to run a social enterprise in Speke, so I’m a big supporter of how they can address deep-rooted and complex social problems.”
